Schools

Stratford is fortunate to have an above average collection of quality education options for families, including elementary, secondary, and post-secondary.

Whether your kids are comfortable or not at their school is foundational to a happy home life. The “right house” isn’t right for you if it doesn’t include access to education that’s the best fit for your family.

As a local parent and university instructor I’ve had personal experience with most of Stratford’s schools, and can speak to each school’s particular culture and strengths. We can also set up tours of schools you’re interested in so you can check them out for yourself.

The Avon Maitland District School Board administers Stratford’s public schools. Within the city they include, K-6:

There is a vibrant community of homeschoolers in Stratford and surrounding area, comprised of families who have chosen un/homeschooling for a large variety of reasons, from their children’s special needs to religious beliefs to seeking a more holistic and unstructured education for their children.

Some of these homeschoolers are organized into formal co-ops, or participate in ones nearby in New Hamburg, Kitchener-Waterloo, or London, and others are more loosely affiliated with each other. Some families coordinate to hire a teacher that will suit their needs and do school together.

I’m happy to put you in touch with any of these local un/homeschooling communities.

In Stratford, the public schools go from K-6 and then students attend a local junior high, Stratford Intermediate School.

There are both English core and French Immersion streams.
